Alternate Titles

Causes

Rectal prolapse's precise aetiology is unknown. Any of the following factors may be to blame:

• Loose muscles of the anal sphincter • An unusually lengthy colon • An larger aperture owing to relaxed muscles in the pelvic floor, which is composed of muscles surrounding the rectum

• Prolapse of the small intestine • Constipation • Diarrhea • Chronic coughing and sneezing • Downward movement of the abdominal cavity between the rectum and uterus

A partial or full prolapse may occur:

The inner lining of the rectum bulges partially from the anus in a partial prolapse.

The whole rectum bulges through the anus in a full prolapse.

Rectal prolapse is more common in children under the age of six. Prolapse may be caused by a variety of health issues, including: • Cystic fibrosis • Intestinal worm infections • Long-term diarrhoea • Other health issues present at birth

Constipation or a muscle or nerve issue in the pelvic or vaginal region are the most common symptoms in adults.

Symptoms

The most common symptom is a reddish-colored lump that protrudes from the anus orifice, particularly after a bowel movement. This reddish mass is really the rectum's inner lining. It may bleed a little and cause discomfort and agony. Medicine for rectal prolapse is offered by the best.
